Company History
While working as the chef/owner of Bourbon St restaurant and night club in Mt. View California, Dana Clark was contacted by a large event management company out of San Francisco to cater an event they were planning for Atari Video Games. He accepted the job and pulled if off with great success. It was then that he noticed that there really was no one doing off premise catering. He decided that this was going to be his next venture. He opened Catering by Dana & the Absolute Barbecue company in 1989. The company was based out of the booming Old Mill Mall in Mt View. In 1995 when the owners of the mall decided to turn the property into residential housing, Dana relocated the company to Redwood City where he moved into a 5000 square foot warehouse and transformed it into a state- of- the- art commercial kitchen, complete with a full laundry service and 3 office suites.
Dana was able to amass a large inventory over the years. The company is now able to service a 2000 person event with out renting any cooking or serving equipment. The company currently has six 14 foot box trucks that go out to all the events.
With the newest trends being gourmet food trucks, Dana has decided to jump into that arena as well, but with his own spin on it. In 2010 he purchased a vintage 1955 Flex bus that he will be converting into a modern mobile BBQ kitchen. Look for it to be parked on a corner near your business soon!
